In the late 1880's Andrew Brann estblished a hardware store in the thriving Lake Michigan port of Bailey's Harbor. The store occupied a portion of the building which is now the Common House Restaurant, a Door County dining tradition.

The hardware trade continued into the 1930's, when the store and adjacent living quarters were converted into a public house and a barber shop was added during WWII.In the 1970's Andrew Redman, a Fish Creek artist, oversaw the final renovations which resulted in the present day look of the bar and dining rooms.

In 1991, Door County native Patrick O'Boyle brought his unique culinary talents to the Common House and has since welcomed guests to share the warmth and hospitality of this historic setting.
